"Dramatic" Iceland

Iceland has a vibrant theatre-scene with very high public attendance (one third of the country’s population attends the National Theatre of Iceland each season!) Theatre in Iceland and the community are therfore closely tied.

Playwright and former dramaturg of the National Theatre in Iceland, Hrafnhildur Hagalín, is here in discussion with Friðrik Friðriksson about the Icelandic "theatre phenomenon", contemporary Icelandic drama, her work with new Icelandic talents, the advantages and challenges of writing for theatre in a small community and her new play Home which premiered at The National Theatre in February this year to great acclaim.
