Vlad Drăgulescu

Born in 1980 in Romania, Vlad Drăgulescu is a prominent cultural manager, theatre professional and visionary behind numerous artistic initiatives in Romania and beyond. He is currently the President of the International Shakespeare Festival in Craiova, a position through which he has significantly contributed to the festival’s international acclaim. Since 2021, Drăgulescu has also held the position of Vice President of the European Shakespeare Festivals Network (ESFN), further expanding his impact on the European theatre landscape.

In November 2016, he was appointed Artistic Director of the Marin Sorescu National Theatre in Craiova. He has shaped the theatre’s artistic vision and led several major cultural projects, including the celebrated Theater Networking Talents, and the ambitious HEKTOMERON project, a global initiative that brought together 100 directors from 100 countries over 100 days, realized in 2021.

Drăgulescu held several prominent leadership roles in the cultural sector: Director of the Craiova International Music Festival and Manager of the “Oltenia” Philharmonic (2012–2016), President of the Craiova European Capital of Culture 2021 Association (2013–2014) and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts, University of Craiova (2007–2009). He is widely recognized for fostering collaborative and participatory projects, building bridges between Romanian and international arts communities and for championing classic approaches to contemporary performing arts.
