Author presentation: Tomas Vaiseta in conversation with Mikael Nydahl. Tomas Vaiseta (b. 1984) is a writer, historian and associate professor at the Faculty of History of Vilnius University. His debut collection of short stories, The Sleep of Birds (2014) was included in the top five books for adults in the Book of the Year selection and the top twelve most creative books selected by the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore. His novel Orpheus: A Journey There and Back (2016) also made it into the top five books for adults in the Book of the Year selection. His latest novel, Ch., was awarded the Jurga Ivanauskait; Literary Prize 2022 and was included in The List of Top Twelve Most Creative Books of 2021 in Lithuania. Vaiseta has also written two historical monographs: Nuobodulio visuomen; (The Society of Boredom, 2014) and Vasarnamis (Summerhouse, 2018). He is a recipient of Kazimieras Barnas Literary Prize and Jurgis Kuninas Literary Prize.
