Paul Celan - the Romanian Dimension with George State
Paul Celan is regarded as one of the most prominent poets of the 20th century. He was born in Romania and, in the aftermath of World War II, he moved to Bucharest, where the famous "Todesfuge" was published for the first time in the Romanian magazine Agora and where he started his fertile connection with the Romanian surrealist movement. Towards his twilight, Celan’s works become radicalized, exhibiting a higher degree of disharmonious rasping. George State, translator and researcher of Celan’s work, is invited to talk to Bogdan Popescu, the director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Stockholm, about the Romanian dimension of Celan’s work.
