Ubuntu and the vision of global democracy

Beskrivning

The Ubuntu philosophy is rooted in Southern African culture, and provides a framework for profound inter-connectedness. It may provide valuable insights for understanding (and can perhaps even help to reshape) globalization.

What is Ubuntu? How did it contribute to the progress towards democracy in South Africa? How can it be used today in the public health efforts to fight COVID-19? How can it inspire the vision for global democracy, and will Africa take the lead for necessary reforms of the United Nations?

Conversation with Dr Heinrich Cyril Volmink, public health physician and former Member of Parliament in South Africa, with academic research experience in the area of Ubuntu.
